TripManhattan

A brief history TripManhattan is the musical reincarnation of StripLight which was formed in late 2005 when Simon Hudson, Nigel Downes and Dave Marritt split from their previous band, 'Trusted' and joined with Andy Smith and Jane Watkins. A name change become necessary in spring 2006 when a London band of the same name signed a record contract, at which point TripManhattan was born. In late 2006 Jane accepted an offer of work in Spain for 6 months, which led to a search for a new singer, with Jane's help, resulting in Caroline Seymour joining TripManhattan in spring 2007. The following months saw the band rehearse and revise its material to suit Caroline and a slightly edgier and bluesier direction, before beginning live performances again in July 2007. The style of music is mixed, ranging from slow ballads, characterised by our beautiful acoustic number, 'Annie' to racier numbers like 'Cold Night', 'Lies' or the creepy 'The hunter'. These are complimented by Indie style numbers like the fun songs 'Wino' and celtic influenced 'Please come back to me' plus various blues inspired songs. Where tracks like 'Hard Road' sit in the genre pigeon holes so loved by the record companies is hard to say... More information and all the usual stuff are on the offical site www.tripmanhattan.com.
