D'espairsRay


D'espairsRay (formerly typeset as DéspairsRay and +DéspairsRay+, now also D'ESPAIRSRAY) was a Japanese Visual kei band from Japan formed on September 9, 1999 and officially disbanded in 2011. Their music can be described as metal, pop-rock and industrial in the early days. Outside Japan, D'espairsRay have toured Europe and North America and had domestic releases in those territories. Band members: Vocals: HIZUMI (ex-L'eveil, currently in NUL.) Guitar, Programming, Backing Vocals: Karyu (ex-Dieur Mind, later active in Angelo currently in H.U.G and Luv PARADE) Bass, Backing Vocals: ZERO (currently in THE MICRO HEAD 4N'S and OFIAM) Drums, Percussion, Programming: TSUKASA (ex-Le'veil, currently in THE MICRO HEAD 4N'S and as an enka singer under his real name Mogamigawa Tsukasa, 最上川 司. Also active as a vocalist for さくら前線, Sakura Zensen). The band’s foundation is built upon the expression of despair and hope. They describe their own music as “hard, electronic rock”, which incoporates and is influenced by several genres including but not limited to: industrial, metal, electronic, gothic rock, punk, and pop. Most songs have industrial and electronic based keyboards and heavy metal guitars and influences from pop music. 1999–2001: Early career D'espairsRay was formed on September 9, 1999, by Hizumi (ex-Le'veil), Karyu (ex-Dieur Mind), Zero and Tsukasa (ex-Le'veil).
