Nebulith


Nebülith is the product of John Shaughnessy, a professional bassist, multi instrumentalist and engineer based out of Charlotte NC. As as kid, his tastes gravitated towards the heavy, groove influenced rock of Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, King Crimson and a heavy dose of funk. Later on he embraced alternative music and proto punk like The MC5 as well as next gen stoner/Doom like Sleep and Monster Magnet. While paying the bills playing jazz and show band gigs, he started a project called Space Force Alpha, with vocalist Omari Wilkerson. The duo released a single “Change The World” in 2019. The song featured John’s unique fretless piccolo bass playing - a combination of guitar, bass and electric cello, all recorded in John’s home production studio. More demos were written for the Space Force Alpha, with an eye toward making a full record - and then the pandemic hit, and the music business came to a complete halt. Faced with a lot of time on his hands and no band, John decided to make a solo record and do all the instruments and vocals himself. He figured that would be a good use of the time off and an audition tape for future production sessions. Having become a huge fan of the Riding Easy Brown Acid series, Shaughnessy figured the most fun thing to do would be to make a pseudo garage band record with the riffs he had laying around.
