Society's Children
There appear to be at least two different bands called Society's Children. 1. Society's Children was founded in the Chicago area by the mother / son team of Doreen and Patrick Sassone in the late 60s. Doreen was the lead vocalist, and Patrick was the guitarist and songwriter. Mr. Genie Man was written by Patrick and recorded by the group in 1968, and released on the Cha-Cha record label. It was recorded, with numerous other songs, at the Columbia Records recording studio in Chicago, Illinois. Society's Children continued to perform and record until they disbanded in 1977. Patrick Sassone continues to write, record and perform as a solo artist in the Blues/Blues Rock genre. 2. Society's Children was a vocal harmony / sunshine pop group of the late 1960s, based in New York, NY, United States. Band members were Diane and Donna Joy, Rick Martin, Russ Hope and an unidentified fifth member. Produced by the Steve & Bill Jerome producers team, they recorded for the Atco label: at least four different 7-inch singles are known, including a version of 'White Christmas' and a medley called 'A Tribute to The Four Seasons'.
